Respiratorydiseases

I being a Chest Physician , am creating this hub with a view to introduce all to the vast array of respiratory diseases that we are vulnerable to in today's world.

Broadly the respiratory diseases can be classified under 2 headings viz., infectious and non infectious diseases. The infectious group includes diseases like tuberculosis, bacterial infections, pneumonia, viral diseases, empyema(collection of pus in pleural space), etc.

The non infectious ones are asthma, copd, Interstitial lung diseases, Lung malignancy,sleep disorders(Eg. Obstructive sleep apnoea) ,and so on.

Respiratory medicine is a separate specialty branch of medicine dedicated to respiratory diseases and a Chest Physician is the one who looks after these diseases and manages them.

This is just the start and I will try to create many informative articles on these topics for benefit of everyone.I hope it helps raise awareness about these diseases.
